- Read the task out loud.
- Do it together with your child.
- If the task isn’t suitable — choose another one.
- After 2–3 cards, pause and notice what has changed.
The main rule: Do not judge, do not criticize, do not force — do it together.
Why this works:
“The Calmer” is based on globally recognized methods for working with the body and the nervous system.
When a child and an adult are experiencing strong emotions, rational explanations don’t work. At that moment, the nervous system shifts into protection mode. First, you need to help the body calm down. Only then can you talk and negotiate.
That’s why the game includes:
- Breathing exercises by A.N. Strelnikova;
- Eye relaxation exercises using the method of William Bates;
- Elements of sensory integration by Anne Jean Ayres;
- Neuro-approaches to stress management (Tara Swart);
- “Brain gym” exercises by Gail E. Dennison;
- Gentle body regulation techniques.
All tasks are adapted for children and presented in a playful way.
